Tonight in Bristol, and my ode to Jackson Browne
Tonight we play The Tunnels in Bristol, England. It is one of my favorite shows on the tour. The band is rocking this year. Mike McAdam from Steve Earle and the Dukes is blowing me away with his slide playing once again, and the kid drummer that is actually a Bristol boy is rocking on the drums. I look forward to seeing everyone there. If you don’t have tickets yet……you can get them here.
Last night in the camper after the house concert the kid drummer and I sat and watched Jackson Browne videos on Youtube. I found an amazing one of “Doctor My Eyes” that led into “These Days”….awesome video with Jim Gordon on drums and David Lindley totally rocking on the lap steel. He is by far the most inspiring lap steel player i’ve ever heard…..my Facebook friends went crazy with comments. Check this out……….
I’m a huge JB fan, and I share that love with many of my friends. My old pal Scott Saunders mentioned “She Don’t Wake Me Up” during those interchanges, and I realized that most of my songs are not on Youtube……..so, I made a video for it. I reckon it is my tip of the hat to Jackson….it was what I was living and absorbing at the time. I wrote the song when I lived in LA……..primarily while under the influence of Theraflu……..moping around my apartment in Hollywood after a BIG breakup……..waking long enough to annoy my neighbors with my guitar playing/wailing, i’m sure………
Here is “She Don’t Wake Me Up”……………………..
