Kevin Montgomery and Jill Jackson-House Concerts in US tour March 4th-22nd

by Kevin on February 16, 2010

Jill Jackson and I will be doing house concerts in the US from March 4th to March 22nd. We have some shows in California, then we will head to Colorado, and then Texas for SXSW, and then Nashville. If you are interested in hosting a house concert in one of those states, or ANY state for that matter, then please get in touch. We can fly anywhere during that time, so we are open to other states not necessarily on our route. Email me if you are interested?

Jill Jackson no doubt telling a story on Kevin Montgomery in Bury, England

You might remember Jill from the 2008 50 States in 50 Days tour. She was a wonderful sidekick…..we laughed all the way from the start of the tour in Alaska to the finish line in Hawaii.
The 2010 50 States in 50 Days tour…will she, or won’t she? I hope so. Sean is looking like a go. He was one hell of a trooper this past year!

I'm really excited! You two work so great together, and I can just imagine how great it will be with Sean. Me and the guys in my band were very interested to watch him and pick his brain.

I can't wait for the videos either!! What is it, “My mom has curly hair and brushes her teeth.” Hehehehehe! That was great along with the knife to the throat!

Thank man! She is a complete pro, and I love throwing out “one-liners” to her…..she always comes back with something clever. It makes the show exciting for me. I cannot stand boring performers. I reckon when you do it as much as I do……the only thing that changes is the banter between the songs……….Jill and I thrive on that stuff.
She is a true trouper, too………never a tense moment…….lovely.
Sean is a pro, too. I look forward to working with him again. ……….I want to hear you guys at the next 50 States tour!

Hi there, Lurking on your website. Dig the music and the way your connecting with fans! If you come out to coastal NC, the Backstreet Pub is very “local” place. Lots of great bands play the upstairs. We'll try and pack 'em in if you make it out to Beaufort.

I hope so………..I'm looking forward to it as well.

Kevin, Thanks man. I appreciate the compliments. I”ve been connecting like this for 10 years or so………they say it is the “new” way, but it all started with email for me. Now that is almost out of date!
Anyway, I'd love to come play this place. Is it much of a listening room, or more rowdy?

Its a small space, a former bakery actually from the 1800s, in Blackbeard's home town. Not a rowdy crowd at all, good folk who love americana/roots/country/folk/alt-country/etc. music. The down stairs is a cozy pub (beer and wine only) and the upstairs has a small beer bar and is a listening space: http://www.ncbeaches.com/CrystalCoast/Beaufort/…
On warm nights we play outside: http://www.historicbeaufort.com/backstreet_pub1… (next page has a small picture of the upstairs), I play on the wed “hoot” nights every week, basically a locals jam.

I imagine 30-40 can fit upstairs, its standing room only. I love it because its intimate and lots great local/regional bands there. Some bands play for a small cover charge. If you are looking for something bigger, the adjacent Morehead City has the Crystal Coast Jamboree for more established acts http://www.crystalcoastjamboree.com/index2.htm Never been there though. Also if you come out this way between Raleigh/Durham, Charlotte, Wilmington, New Bern, Greenville, Asheville, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and much more there should be plenty out in NC to make a trip worthwhile!

Kevin,
This sounds like a room I should play, Yes, I usually play in Charlotte………North Carolina has a pretty rich musical history, or at least…..supports music.
Let's keep in touch and look for a date?
