Last night while Sean and I were meeting. He mentioned that he had completed the New Mexico videologue from the 2009 50 States in 50 Days tour.
We played in Clovis at the Norman and Vi Petty Rock and Roll Museum. Norman Petty was Buddy Holly’s producer, and many of those hits were recorded in his studio. The songs like “Heartbeat” that my dad wrote were, in fact, recorded there.
After we played they opened up the studio for us, and gave us an impromptu, in depth tour.
We were joined by my pals from the band Shurman……they happened to be in town, and tagged along with us……….a special night.
The studio is exactly as it was 60 years ago…..same chairs, same speakers that have never been refurbished……you literally walk back in time.
