House Concerts/Village Hall shows the #1 priority

House Concerts and Village Hall shows are my #1 priority over the coming months. I’m told we are in a recession, and people are staying in, or not traveling to Europe during this time. I have a theory. I think this will actually be good for shows over the summer…….particularly in the UK, but also in the US. There will simply be more people in town, and looking for a relatively cheap/fun night out.
What better place to have fun then in your home, or local village hall?!
As a hard-core touring artist, over the past few years i’ve grown to LOVE doing house concerts. You don’t have to deal with clubs, and it is sort of like being a human jukebox. One friend/fan will basically put you and your music in front of their friends, family, and neighbors……..and expose them to your music. Just like a human cd player!
Some of my best shows have been in someone’s living room……….60 or 70 people crammed so tight they can hardly move……people sitting indian style on the floor…….quietly taking the music in……….heaven.
Village halls I find incredible, too. They are like house concerts, but taken to the next level……….150 to 200 people, and again, a fan/friend, or collection of fans/friends in the village will promote the show, and get everyone out. I’ve had some tremendous times at these.
It is grassroots promotion in it’s purest form.
My fans/friends have literally supported me over the past few years with these shows. I’m am thankful for them.
If you would like to host a house concert, or village hall show, then please get in touch with me. I have the next 3 and a half weeks where I am mostly sitting in front of the computer booking the summer, the 50 States in 50 Days tour, and even into the winter—think the UK/Ireland/Europe tour starting on Dec. 26th in France—village halls would work perfectly for that tour.
So, just email me at kevinmontgomery @yahoo.com, and we can sort out the details. If you have emailed me in the past few months about a show……please retry……I had an email failure a few weeks ago, and I fear some of the emails have fallen through the cracks.

When will you be in Ireland?? A friend and I have been talking about heading there around New Year's.
  • For the casual reader just passing through, I can tell you that having Kevin perform at my house was a great experience. I've been bugging him to come back since the second the house concert was over!

There's something special about a house concert that you just can't get at a bar or a music hall. It is like having your own personal jukebox with a lot of story telling.

Before I ramble on too much, it's just a great time! If you're on the fence, just contact Kevin and give it a try. You can thank me later!
  • Good luck. I've actually had a better year this year than last. More shows, for some reason.

    Gary
  • Mary, I will be in Ireland at some point for sure.
John, I appreciate you saying that! I had a great time on the last 50 States in 50 Days tour at your house. I just wish we hadn't had to roll after the show.

Gary, yes, Tommy Allsup, who is 78 years old, and played with Buddy Holly and Bob Wills........told me that he and his dad used to play house concerts in the Great Depression.
He said that even though things were tough.....people still want to drink and listen to music.
Sometimes that is ALL you can do.
Now, i personally think that recession is a state of mind, but while we are in that state of mind............then I might as well be doing music and trying to lift people's spirits.
    Thanks for the comments.
